Why Do We Move?

Why Do We Move?

For existing homeowners, there are many factors that can create the desire to move. Although job relocation may seem like the most common reason to move, this is actually only the leading cause of moves amongst sellers between the ages of 45 and 54. In 2013, the National Association of Realtors took a survey on reasons why homeowners were considering a move. Here were the most common responses.

Desire for a Larger Home

The largest percentage of sellers, 45%, cited the desire to live in a larger home. Unsurprisingly, this reason was the most frequently cited reason by younger homeowners under age 45. At this life stage, many families are growing and need more space.

If you’re looking for a larger home for your family, head on over to our floor plan page. Once there, you can filter by square footage as well as number of bedrooms and bathrooms. With three and four-bedroom plans running between 1392 and 5112 square feet, you’re sure to find a layout that is the perfect fit for a growing family. Changing Circumstances

The next largest group of sellers (44%) cited their desire to “live in a home better suited to their life phase” as a reason for moving. While this may include some overlap with the first group, sellers in this group are also likely to be considering homes which are suitable for aging-in-place.

Previously on this blog, we’ve covered some of the details that go into designing and building a home that will work for all the years ahead. If you’re looking for a forever log home, a great place to start your search is looking at a plan with a first-floor master suite or a ranch style home.

Changing Style

Powell, MT (9952)

A full 42% of sellers were looking at new homes in order to find one better suited to their style. We certainly understand this motivation, since there is no home that can match the style found in a Real Log Home. If you have always wanted to live in a log home, then quite simply no other style of home will do. Please take a look at our photo gallery of Real Log Homes, and we’re certain you’ll find one for your style as well.

Whatever your reason is if you’re considering a move, we’re sure that a Real Log Home is the perfect place to move to.
