Getting Out and Enjoying Yourself

It has been pretty crazy lately as far as the weather goes.  From heat waves to storm fronts, it has made those perfectly sunny, pleasant days all the more precious.  Having a great outdoor living space to enjoy those beautiful days can be priceless.

Here are some of our favorite ideas for creating an outdoor haven with all the comforts of home:

Rossano Log Home With Wrap Around Deck
Rossano Log Home Patio The Rossano home features a deck that runs the full length of the back of the house.   The nice thing about this deck is that portions on each end of the house are under cover and the center portion is exposed, with no roof.  This provides space to be sheltered and space to be open to the sun.  The view to the expansive wooded lot makes this such an ideal place to have a bite of breakfast.

Log Home With Screen Porches and Deck
Log Home With Screen Porches and DeckThis home also features an elevated deck running the back of the house.  This home, however, has screened porches at either end.  For those who share their land with a large number of unwelcome guests (aka mosquitos) a screened porch can feel like a refuge from ear buzzing and leg smacking.  This porch looks particularly inviting with the blueberry pie set out (no shoofly pie on this log home porch)

Reaves Log Home Outdoor FireplaceThis home's outdoor living space is a real treasure.  Resting on a sloped site with a walkout basement, and linked from the back of the home by a short bridge, the homeowners have created a comfy and cozy outdoor dining space.  Sheltered from rain by a roof, and with a large wood burning stone fireplace, this space would be ideal for dining even on chilly or drizzly days.  This would be perfect for places like the Sierra Nevada mountains where just as recently as last week there was snow in the forecast.  Just goes to show that the weather can be a bit crazy, but you can still get out there and enjoy yourself.
