While every log home is customized for each client, there are many package materials that are consistent. Options can be added, and components can be tailored to match the needs and desires of a customer, but this is our list of typical log home package materials.
Keep in mind, we not only provide the materials for our homes but we also have an in-house design team.

SOLID LOG WALLS
All logs are pre-cut, lettered and numbered for placement in the walls and solid log gable ends
Multiple log wall profiles and corners styles available, including Interlocking Mortise and Tenon, Contemporary Square, Swedish Cope, or Dovetail corner styles
INTERLOCK™ JOINERY SYSTEM
All log profiles, except Swedish Cope, feature Real Log Homes' InterLock Log Joinery system designed exclusively for Real Log Homes®
Note: Swedish Cope corner styles combine precision pre-cutting with PVC Lockspline™, Log Home Foam V790 Gasket, and other effective materials to assure a precise fit
WINDOWS AND PATIO DOORS
Choice of Andersen®, Pella® or Marvin®.
Velux® Roof Windows and Skylights.
Note: Sunscreening accessories and electric control options are available.
EXTERIOR DOORS
Choice of Therma-Tru Fiber-Classic and Simpson Doors, pre-hung with stain-quality jambs and exterior casing
Insulated glazing, weather stripping, and a bronze anodized sill with adjustable oak strip included
SOLID LOG SIDING
Profiled to match the log wall - covers the edge of the first floor under the first course of the log (except Swedish Cope)
*Available for the exterior of framed walls for dormers, framed and trussed gable ends and on interiors of framed gable ends in cathedral areas
FLOOR JOISTS
Pre-cut, structural round log or timber joists for upper floor systems.
Pre-notching for assembly into the log wall
Fasteners for the connections
Note: Optional pre-cut 4X or 6X timbers are available for joists.
FLOOR GIRDERS
Pre-cut and notched, structural Douglas fir 12" by 12" timber girders to support interior ends of the joists
ROOF RAFTERS
Pre-cut, structural log or timber rafters for gable roof systems
Pre-notched connections over the log wall and ridge
Fasteners for the connections
Note: Gambrel-style roof system is standard with 4X timbers for rafters, purlins, collar ties, and ridge
RIDGE BEAM
Structural ridge beams to support ends of rafters are supplied, when indicated
This beam allows the load to be carried by all four walls, yielding more open and flexible floor plans
INTERIOR POSTS
Interior posts are supplied to support upper floor girders and roof beams, when indicated
Log or timber posts available in open, visual locations
Square timbers provided where partially or fully obscured from view by interior partitions, cabinets, etc.
Screwjacks included to allow for adjustment as the log wall settles
PORCHES
Most log porches are provided with pre-cut log rafters, including fasteners for the connections
All porches include:
Pre-cut log porch plates (matching the log style) to support porch rafters
Full log porch posts to support the log plates
Porch Rafter Options
FULL LOG
These naturally contoured full log porch rafters continue your authentic log home appearance outside. Full log porch rafters are part of our standard log home package where shown. Available in an optional hand-peeled finish.
SQUARE TIMBER
An alternative option retaining the qualities of an exposed porch rafter design desired by many log home enthusiasts. Available either rough-sawn or planed, square porch rafters reflect a contemporary style in your home. Also available on a limited basis in a hand-hewn finish.
FULL ROUND
Full round porch rafters are designed to match our Swedish Cope log profiles. These rugged milled round rafters are a great complement to your Swedish Cope style wall logs. Available in an optional hand-peeled finish.
PRE-CUT CONVENTIONAL 2X RAFTERS
The most economical alternative to a heavy-timbered porch rafter system. Consider this option to have your porch built using local dimensional materials or pre-made local trusses.

To facilitate the construction of your home, each package includes:
Printed and digital blueprints of your REAL™ Log Home using Computer- Aided Design (CAD) systems
Easy-to-read assembly details
Pre-cut log wall assembly instructions
Complete list of materials included in the package
Detailed Construction Manual including assembly and detail photos
On-site Technical Assistance available when required. Contact your representative for details.
WOOD PRESERVATIVE
All our logs, except cedar, are treated with AMICAL™ Flowable and Tim-Bor®, an EPA-registered, non-toxic wood preservative, which inhibits mildew, decay, and insect infestations. For effective penetration, bundles of pre-cut logs are immersed in an AMICAL™ Flowable and Tim-Bor® solution, allowing the preservative to soak into the wood. We recommend an exterior maintenance program of periodic applications of a high-quality exterior finish to keep your home protected. Properly maintained with an exterior treatment, the benefits of Tim-Bor® are permanent.
